Catalyst
Catalyst serves up their own unique brand of fusion jazz that includes elements of rock, soul, pop, classical, electronic, straight ahead jazz and funk on their debut CD. The album features tributes to some pop greats (Strawberry Fields, Don't Give Up) and original compositions written by the leader Jeff King that range from soulful ballads to driving grooves with a lot of unexpected turns in between.
The individual band members have a long list of diverse performance credits with many outstanding artists such as Oscar Peterson, Tony Bennett, Ray Anderson, Pacquito DRiviera, Randy Brecker, Steve Turre, Dr Lonnie Liston Smith, Hilario Duran, Joey DeFrancisco, Mike Murley, Don Thompson, Denzal Sinclair, The Winnipeg Symphony and The Canadian Brass.
